FAQ

Q. What does eubiotic mean?

A. The term Eubiotic combines the Greek term “eu”, meaning “good”, with “biotic”, which refers to living things.  MSPeubiotic® promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria, which helps to balance the microflora and help improve overall health.

Q. What is a prebiotic?

A. A prebiotic is a carbohydrate that resists digestion in the stomach and small intestine, and travels to the colon where it feeds the gastrointestinal microflora and confers benefits upon host well-being and health.

Q. What is resistant starch?

A. Most types of starch are carbohydrates that are digested by the body and broken down into simple sugars.  However, resistant starch is a prebiotic.  Resistant starch resists digestion in the stomach and small intestine, passing into the colon where it feeds that healthy bacteria (microflora) living there.

Q. Is safe MSPeubiotic® for my dog?

A.
Yes.  MSPeubiotic® is a food-grade resistant starch that has been evaluated by Health Canada’s Low Risk Veterinary Health Products (LRVHP) and is for use in dogs of all breeds, ages, and sizes.

Q. How do I add MSPeubiotic® to my dog’s food?

A. Most dogs are happy to eat food with the MSPeubiotic® sprinkled on top.  Some people mix MSPeubiotic® with a moist dog food or suspend in water and then add it to dry food.  Any of these methods can work - but remember that food must maintain temperatures under 60°C or 140°F!

Q. Can I mix MSPeubiotic® with water and then add it to my dog’s food?

A. Yes.  MSPeubiotic® is insoluble in water, so it must be suspended (by stirring or shaking) in water and then added to food before it has time to settle.

Q. How should I introduce MSPeubiotic® to my pet?

A. We recommend, as with any change to your dog’s diet, that you introduce MSPeubiotic® slowly, gradually increasing to the recommended amount, to allow the body adjust to the new healthy bacteria.  Dogs normally adjust in less than a week.

Q. How much MSPeubiotic® can I give my pet in a day?

A. We recommended that you introduce MSPeubiotic® to your dog’s diet slowly, allowing for a gradual change towards a healthy gut microbiome.  MSPeubiotic® contains a 3.5 g (one teaspoon) scoop and we suggest that you adjust the amount depending on the size of your dog.  Generally, we recommend:

  • One scoop for a small dog (under 10 kg/22 lbs)
  • Two scoops for a medium size dog (10 kg – 22 kg/22 lbs-48lbs)
  • 3 scoops for a large dog (over 22 kg/48 lbs)

You can vary the dosage once the microbiome in your dog’s digestive tract adjusts to MSPeubiotic® depending on your animal’s health needs.

Q. Do you have a white paper about MSPeubiotic®?  I want to learn more about this product.

A. Yes, we have a MSPeubiotic® white paper that explains more about the product.  You can access a copy by clicking here.
